Whether you aspire to engage the entire school community, create an unforgettable end-of-year concert performance, or prepare an amazing performance for the Wakakirri Story-Dance Festival, our Wakakirri AIR programs are designed to bring flexibility and creativity to schools of all sizes.

With Wakakirri’s Artist in Residence program, you gain access to our team of qualified expert Story-Dance Facilitators who will visit your school and collaborate with you in crafting a captivating story-dance performance. KICK START

THE EASIEST WAY TO DO WAKAKIRRI!

Price starts from $3569
 
Schools choose a pre-designed story-dance from a catalogue of productions that includes a script, choreography videos, soundtrack, suggestions on costumes, sets and props and a lighting plan ready to be delivered in 12-hours of rehearsals to your students.
 
Teachers can breathe easy, knowing that every element of the production is meticulously crafted for a effective show.
 
This feature minimises the planning burden on teachers, allowing them to focus on guiding their students through an enriching creative journey.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

• Begins with a phone consultation to choose a suitable pre-designed story-dance. Themes include: Environmental, Social Media, Human Rights, Social Diversity, Mental Health & Wellbeing & History. • Includes 12 hours of face-to-face rehearsals with a Wakakirri Facilitator. • Includes a 1-hour planning session with a Wakakirri Facilitator. • Includes a complete story, script, choreography, and soundtrack. • Includes access to digital dance videos so students can practise at home or in class. • Resources are provided to support administration and planning. • Minimal costumes and sets/props required. • Options to add extra or extend rehearsals, productions meetings and have the Facilitator support students on performance day (live or video) available. • Currently only available for Primary Schools (exceptions apply).

HEAD START

INTENSIVE STORY-DANCE WORKSHOP

This workshop intensive explores the fundamentals of story-dance. Schools can use this program to assist in the planning of a story-dance production in preparation for the event and/or as a way to recruit students to join the Wakakirri experience.
 
Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with an expert Wakakirri Facilitator who will support the brainstorming of ideas for a Story-Dance performance while also developing various creative skills in Dance, Acting, Story Telling and Production Design.
 
This program allows teachers to gain further insight into what’s involved during the process of a Wakakirri production.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

• Begins with a phone consultation to discuss the purpose of the workshop. • Includes up to 4 types of face-to-face creative workshops targeting: story planning, choreography, production design, and performance. • Options to run the program on either a half day (3 hours), full day (6 hours) or a 3-day intensive. • No offsite performance. A small informal presentation is conducted by the end of the program at your school. • Options of tagging the workshop to the Best Start Program as a way to develop a full story-dance item for entry into a Wakakirri event (Live or Video). • Suitable for both Primary & Secondary Schools.

BEST START

CREATIVE COLLABORATION

Ideal for schools who would like more involvement in the creative process to design an original story-dance performance from scratch.
 
A Wakakirri Facilitator will support your school by helping to create the story, choreography, soundtrack, sets and props, costumes, and lighting plan for a 3-7 minute item in 12-hours of rehearsals. Our specialist guides the entire process, from planning to rehearsals, and the final performance. This tailored support ensures a seamless and enriching experience for both teachers and students.
Facilitators can also collaborate with students in the creation of the story-dance.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

• Begins with a phone consultation to discuss what specifically your school requires our Facilitators to assist with. • Includes 12 hours of face-to-face rehearsals with a Wakakirri Facilitator. • Includes a planning session and regular production meetings with the Facilitator throughout the delivery of the program to ensure specific requirements are met. • Options to add extra or extend rehearsals, meetings and have the Facilitator support students on performance day (live or video) available. • Potential additional costs for set/props and costumes, depending on the design of the original story. • Suitable for both Primary or Secondary schools.

STORY-DANCE CLASSES

LEARN STORY-DANCE SKILLS & ARTISTRY

These classes are perfect for schools who do not have a Performing Arts program currently available and/or want to provide students with opportunities to learn the skills and artistry involved in dance and theatre performance.

Schools can use these classes as an alternative to Physical Education by developing coordination, stamina, strength, flexibility and overall physical health using dance. This program also allows a safe space for students to explore artistic expressions and enhance their own characterisations skills using drama.

Schools may wish to incorporate this program as part of a well-being day to help students build confidence, lower anxiety, and promote social connections with others.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

• Begins with a phone consultation to discuss the purpose of the story-dance classes. • Delivered by a face-to-face Wakakirri Facilitator that includes a warm-up, dance/drama skills and a choreographed story-dance routine. • Options include a once-off 2-hour session or regular classes throughout a school Term. • Can be tailored to any curriculum based outcomes (e.g., Drama or Physical Education). • No offsite performance. A small informal presentation is conducted by the end of the program at your school. • Options of tagging the classes to any of the other programs such the Kick Start Program or Best Start Program as a way to develop skills related to performing a story-dance in a Wakakirri event (Live or Video). • Suitable for both Primary & Secondary Schools.
