Dance School Challenge

Great stories change the way people think about the world around them.

Have you got a story to tell? Want to tell it through dance? Created for dance schools and community groups who love the Story Dance format, Wakakirri DSC is the ultimate event for those who take their Story Dancing seriously.

The Challenge? Create a 3-7 minute Story Dance with a group and tell a story using a combination of dancing, creative movement and acting to pre-recorded music. Tell any story and use any combination of dance, creative movement, acting, music, live singing, props, costumes, sets and film projections. The possibilities are endless! Incorporate the annual signature item into the story for an extra challenge.

Perform your story dance in a professional theatre in front of the official ‘Wakakirri Panel’ who are searching for ‘Story of the Year’. Performing in Wakakirri is an experience students never forget. Walk the Red Carpet with the Panel Reps then perform live on stage. Every school’s Story is filmed for Wakakirri TV as part of the Search for ‘Story of the Year’.

Please note the DSC is a Victoria only event in 2018. Plans are underway to expand to other States in the near future.
