Free Story-Dance Kit

Our free Story-Dance kit is a do-it-yourself complete package for schools. Choose from a selection of pre-designed Story-Dances from our catalogue!

Each complete package includes a script, simple choreography, soundtrack and easy-to-follow instructions, plus practice videos so students can learn the dances at their own pace.

This program also comes with a free consultation with a Wakakirri expert as well as on-going support.

Artist in Residence program

Our Artist in Residence program provides a qualified Wakakirri Facilitator to visit your school and guide students and teachers through the entire Story-Dance creation process.

Air Beginner Program

Schools select a pre-designed story-dance from our catalog, complete with script, choreography, soundtrack, costume suggestions, set design, and a lighting plan—all ready to deliver in just 12 hours of rehearsals by a Wakakirri Facilitator. Students also have access to practice videos, letting them rehearse independently at their own pace.

Air Advanced Program

A Creative Collaboration. Ideal for schools wanting a more hands-on approach, this program lets your team work with a Wakakirri Facilitator to design an original story-dance from scratch. Our facilitator will guide the creation of the story, choreography, soundtrack, costumes, set, and lighting over 12 hours of rehearsals. This program provides a collaborative, customised experience, ensuring a high-quality performance that everyone can be proud of.

A NON-PROFIT ORGANISATION

Wakakirri is a national story-Dance festival where school students create and perform original stories through movement and dance.

As a not for profit association, Wakakirri supports student wellbeing, creativity and inclusion across primary and secondary schools. Schools support students to develop a short performance that explores ideas, values or social themes, which is then shared on stage at a Wakakirri event in front of peers, families and the wider community.

For more than 30 years, Wakakirri has worked with schools across Australia, providing a safe and inclusive platform where young people can be seen, heard and celebrated. At its heart, Wakakirri believes that great stories inspire change.
