THE WAKAKIRRI STORY GUIDE
The Wakakirri National Story Festival incorporates six very different formats for telling stories, however, despite the differences in the way we express these stories, the way they should be put together (in terms of character, plot and structure) is universal. This guide will take you through the basics of story telling. The emphasis of this guide is on how best to engage and entertain your audience – this is the most important rule to remember! Don’t forget your audience. It is not enough to choose a great topic, or pick a fantastic book to adapt, you still have to tell your story well and that means taking your audience on the journey with you, rather than just sending them a postcard. The guide is relevant for ALL Wakakirri categories and for your reading pleasure it has been divided into the following three fascinating chapters: Everything explained in these chapters will then be demonstrated in our case study of The Wizard of Oz |
