Testimonials
What schools, teachers and parents have to say about Wakakirri… Wakakirri provides an excellent opportunity for children
to boost their confidence and self-esteem, as well as learn teamwork and
co-operation. Excellent opportunity to expose as many kids as possible
to this extraordinary experience - I love it, from go to woah. It was very organised from start to finish. Phone calls
and emails were answered promptly. We had a ball. We recycled costumes
and ideas from a previous show which made it easy to manage. A great opportunity
for students of all levels and ability to participate. Very good for peer
teaching/leadership. Thank you very much for making this great experience
accessible to all schools. We participate in this event every two years
and we take on a whole school approach to it. I personally think the learning
outcomes and the skills developed throughout the whole Wakakirri experience
are invaluable and the students all get a real buzz out of taking part
in it. A lovely experience, well-organised and excellent understanding
of rules and information sent out to schools. We love Wakakirri - it is a highlight of our school
year. We just love it!!! One of the most positive experiences
with children I have ever had. Well organised. Totally inspiring!! Yeah
Wakakirri!! You don’t have to be a teacher to run Waka. Have
done it for 7 years and loved it! Wakakirri is a reflection of team spirit, outstanding
performing arts and school pride. We found this year’s Wakakirri experience to be
thoroughly enjoyable. We all had a ball and look forward to being there
again next year. I found the experience very rewarding. It was a great
opportunity for the students, as we do not have a formal performing arts
program. Thank you. So well organised and a terrific experience
for our country students. This is our second year - I love the entire experience,
it’s fantastic! Whenever I contacted the office with a question, staff
went over and above the call of duty to be of assistance, and were always
prompt with replies. It is apparent that the Wakakirri team are endeavoring
to provide a positive experience for all student, and the manner in which
they supported staff is testimony to this. On the day of our performance
everything was thoroughly organised and ran very smoothly, and teachers
were supported in every way possible. This is also allowed teachers to
mingle and share experiences. Being involved in Wakakirri is like being a helium balloon.
Someone has to hold onto you or you float in euphoria. A fair “competition” rewarded for story/performing
not $$$. Our students felt great about themselves - a friendly atmosphere.
No nastiness! Well done, see you next year!! It was fantastic for the children to be able to see
other schools perform - more important than rewards. This is a great opportunity to further primary children’s
experiences in dance and drama. Very rewarding and FUN! Having just competed in our first Wakakirri I thought
I’d write to tell you how things went. All the kids involved had
a wonderful time, so much so that there were many non-Waka kids trying
to find a berth in the finals team! I have enjoyed being able to compete
in a competition where schools were encouraged to work within a fairly
low budget and make use of recycling. Keeping the main focus on the actual
story-dance in terms of judging points and limiting the size of props
helps this. On behalf of the Wakakirri Team at St Michael's Blacktown
we would like to thank the Wakakirri staff and production team who were
at the Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, 14th September. Our students
had a fantastic experience yesterday, and that would not have happened
without the professionalism of your staff. Congratulations to all the
Wakakirri staff for being so informative, friendly and approachable. Thanks
once again for the opportunity for our students to experience an event
they will never forget! I would like to thank you for the opportunity to participate
in Wakakirri - it is a brilliant concept – superbly organised. Congratulations
to you and your team - last night’s show was stunning and a great
showcase of the talent and passionate enthusiasm in our schools. I will
spread the good news. Thanks for a fantastic night at the Canberra heats last
Thursday the 25th of August. Your staff were friendly, helpful and
understanding and we had a terrific night. Our children were wonderful
and really enjoyed performing for the audience. We were very very
happy to win the best school in public award. Thanks once again. Thank you for all of your organisation of our show at
Karralyka on Friday 29th. The kids had a ball! For many, it
was their first experience in theatre, so it was very exciting for them. STORY-WRITING Last year was the first year our school was involved
in Story-Writing and our finalist has been so excited about his story
being recognised. Many thanks for your efforts in providing a forum for
young writers to be recognised. STORY-SINGING We did story singing because we didn’t have time
for regular story dance. We (I) really enjoyed it and are already working
on next years! The kids from both groups - story telling and singing
- had a brilliant time this year and loved the whole process. STORY-TELLING Our students thoroughly enjoyed the story-telling section
and took ownership of it right from the very beginning. They wrote their
own story, assisted in converting it to a script, and made decisions about
costumes, staging and style. They have gained many skills and developed
confidence and independence. Back to TOP Back to TESTIMONIALS & FAQS
