24 Feb - Teacher wanted for Wakakirri Outback!
The Wakakirri Outback program gives young Indigenous and non-Indigenous students living in remote communities the opportunity to take part in a national arts festival. Wakakirri is currently seeking an experienced teacher to join the Outback Festival team in 2010. Along with another Wakakirri staff member, the teacher will be involved in a community and school consultation process at each festival location (3 non-consecutive weeks in total).

Secondary School Inquiries
Following the cancellation of Rock Eisteddfod's 2010 program, many secondary schools have been asking if Wakakirri is going to reinstate its high school section. While we currently have no plans of running a high school section, we will certainly consider this option if there is enough interest from schools. Once you have registered for Wakakirri 2010, please register a student from your Wakakirri item for our Student Rep Program.
The Student Rep Program aims to empower students and give them a sense of ownership over their Wakakirri item. It also gives them a chance to exercise their writing and photography skills not to mention their technical and web skills!!
2010 Signature Item is 'DUCK'
For all schools who enter the festival this year, you have the opportunity to incorporate 'DUCK' into your Wakakirri work in any way you wish. It can be central to your story if you wish, or it can be peripheral. 'DUCK' can be interpreted in any way you like for example a quacking duck...ducking under something...
